Philippines – ‘State of Calamity’ Declared Following Destructive Earthquake

UPDATE 6 DECEMBER 2025

Since we posted the story, below, super-typhoon Tino brought devastating floods across the Visayas and Palawan regions, particularly affecting Cebu, Leyte, Negros Occidental, and Iloilo.

The storm unleashed torrential rains, leading to severe flooding and landslides with a record-breaking rainfall in the Cebu area of up to 428 mm within 24 hours, resulting in catastrophic flooding and displacing thousands of families and contaminating water sources.

Many homes that were damaged through the earthquake were also further damaged.

We have sent relief funds to assist with the immediate needs, and will be sending more in the coming week to assist with property repairs in one of the  communities most affected.

Field Coordinators Rolly & Nimfa Vasey report that …

“This [has been] a big help that we can move and bring the Good News to the people who are affected by the devastating earthquake (assist repairs of their damaged houses) and typhoon Tino.”

Your gift, of any amount, will be used to assist families in need – including pastors in remote areas – to rebuild their damaged homes.

ORIGINAL POST 4 OCTOBER 2025

Pray for all affected by the devastating earthquake, 19Km north of Bogo, Cebu at around 10pm on Tuesday 30 September, causing widespread destruction. A ‘State of Calamity’ has been declared, with at least 69 people dead.

Our Field Coordinators, Rolly & Nimfa Vasey were able to visit some of the affected communities yesterday and conduct an ocular damage survey.

They reported,

… it was really heart-breaking during our ocular visitation on the actual site. We can see families along the road begging for food and water.

We can see families outside of their houses since the after-shock is still going on, but praise God because we saw truck-loads of relief goods coming from different places ready for distribution, and while we are experiencing monster rain around there is no rain on the affected area”.

Now, after evaluating about their needs, food, water and other basic immediate are already taking cared by the government but this is most need wherein the government doesn’t provide, the repair of their damaged houses. The ministerial head [told me that] more or less 85 pastors need some repair of their respective houses.

We were able to start distribute just small relief goods to few families.

We are hoping and praying that God will make a way for these need.

Blessings in Jesus name,

Rolly and Nimfa”
