Over the past two weeks, two powerful typhoons – including Rolly (aka Goni), the world’s strongest typhoon so far this year – have caused major destruction in parts of the Philippines and Vietnam
Ps Rolly Vasey, Field Coordinator for Cebu, is part of a ministerial group organising urgent supplies for the Bicol region – one of the hardest hit areas.
Ps Danny Macuha, our Field Coordinator for Batangas and Mindoro sent us this report earlier today, which highlights the very real struggles felt by many – if not all – our co-workers and ministry partners in these challenging times:
“The MVI ministry here in Batangas and Mindoro provinces faced the challenges and difficulties due to COVID pandemic and 3 major typhoon who hit directly in this 3 provinces resulting of too much damages to the houses, rice field, infrastructure and church building. As of now my hometown in Mindoro was flooded due to rain.
I’m preparing to visit Mindoro Island next week and bring some food parcels, medicines, vitamins and financial help to those who damaged the church building. Please pray for me that our God ease my burden. We thank you for your love, prayers and assistance during this time of calamity.
This typhoon leave 22 casualties, billions of pesos damage in rice field, infrastructure, and houses here in Philippines.
My heart desire is to help the needy Pastors and churches. We set our relief operation in Mindoro next week Wednesday 11till Friday 13 November. Please pray that our Government give some necessary travel authority and some document to travel.”
Donations are now closed for these appeals, but you can still make a general donation towards personnel support, community projects and future relief needs here
Thank you!
Tim & Julia, our Feld Coordinators for Vietnam, also sent us the following update today:
