PHILIPPINES – Devastating Impact of Typhoon Kristine
By Ps Danny Macuha (Field Coordinator – Batangasa and Mindoro)
We are writing to share an update on the devastating impact of Typhoon Kristine and the ongoing rescue efforts in affected areas. The storm has caused severe flooding and destruction, particularly in the Bicol Region, Region 4a (my place) and some part of Luzon.
Entire communities have been submerged, with families displaced and homes destroyed. Mindoro Island was affected some areas are submerged due to heavy rain.
In response, local government units, national rescue teams, and volunteer groups have been working tirelessly to assist those in need. We are especially thankful for the many Christian volunteers who have come forward to provide much-needed help in these challenging times. Many of them have risked their own safety to participate in rescue operations, deliver relief goods, and offer prayers and spiritual support to those affected.
The situation in here remains dire, with floods affecting almost every part of the island. Roads are impassable in many areas, making it difficult to deliver aid to remote communities. The indigenous Mangyan people are particularly struggling, as they have lost access to clean water and basic necessities.
Please continue to pray for the safety of those affected, the ongoing rescue operations, and the volunteers who are working so diligently. Your support, both in prayer and in any way possible, is a great blessing during this difficult time.
In Christ’s love, Danny and Lorie Macuha
How you can help ...
Field Coordinator Ps Danny Macuha is leading our clean water projects, at an estimated cost of up to NZ$1,000 for each community.
With your donation, two communities can be provided with clean, safe drinking water.
In a project such as this, 4 tanks will be provided to 2 communities. These tanks will be fed from a main source, to act as a reservoir that can hold at least 1800L of water.
Your financial help – of any amount – will greatly contribute to this life-changing project.
