PHILIPPINES – Kingsway School Mission to Cebu

Over the last couple of months, we have had the joy of seeing the Kingsway School mission team travel to Cebu in the Philippines to spend time with Pastor Rolly, Nimfa, Cherry Mae, and the wider church and ministry team. Pastor Danny and Lorie were also able to come and join the team during their time in the Philippines.

It was truly a remarkable trip. The feedback from students and teachers has been so encouraging. The team participated in church events, community outreach, sports, prayer in homes, school ministry, mat creation to be sold at market and practical acts of service.

The team took a number of modern laptops to be distributed for ministry workers. These had been refreshed with new operating systems and prepared for many more years of practical ministry use. They were very gratefully received.

For the students and teachers, this was a wonderful discipleship journey. An opportunity to serve, learn, worship, pray, and see firsthand how God is at work through His people in another nation.

We have also seen the fruit continue back here in New Zealand. In recent interviews with staff and teachers interested in leading future mission trips, several spoke about how they had been impacted simply by hearing the testimonies from those who had been part of the Philippines team.

That is one of the great blessings of short-term mission done well. The impact does not end when the team returns home.

Mayor Cindi King Chan reported on social media:

“It was a pleasure to welcome 18 high school students from KingsWay School in New Zealand during their courtesy visit here in our office. They are here as part of their 10-day educational tour in Lapu-Lapu City & Bohol that allows them to experience our culture, connect with our community, and gain a deeper appreciation of the rich history and heritage that make our city unique.

To make their visit even more meaningful, We provided them transportation assistance through our City Government coaster so they could explore some of Lapu-Lapu City’s historical and cultural landmarks. We are always happy to open our doors to opportunities that promote cultural exchange, build friendships across borders, and give young people memorable learning experiences.”

Team members reported:

“We’ve loved the dancing, singing, sports, local crafts, and experiencing a beautiful culture so different from our own. But more than anything, we’re grateful for the opportunity to be God’s hands and feet, sharing His love wherever we go.

Thank you for praying with us. We have so much to be grateful for, and we can’t wait to share all the stories of what God is doing!”
